Here at The Stueytunes Show, we love Halloween, and it was a no-brainer to do a Halloween Special since October 31 falls on one of our release dates! So, please enjoy the episode, and as the poster says, don’t say we didn’t warn you!
For this episode, we decided to take a look at some songs that have curses associated with them, including the aptly-nicknamed ‘Hungarian Suicide Song’, ‘Crossroad Blues’ and strangely enough, Frank Sinatra’s ‘My Way’. While the first two are just creepy, ‘My Way’ is a little bit strange, a little bit funny, and very tragic. As you will hear, they really do take their karaoke seriously in the Philippines.
In segment two, we pay homage to musicians who adopt personas on stage. People do this for a variety of reasons. Some musicians just happen to love horror films. For others, the persona acts as a gimmick that helps attract attention. For still others, adopting a persona helps deal with stage fright, or allows them to explore themes and issues artistically. We take a look back at the careers of Alice Cooper, Screamin’ Jay Hawkins (look him up!), KISS and Marilyn Manson. Each of these artists bring something unique to the table.
Finally, we end the show with our Stueytunes Halloween Playlist, giving what we think are the top 5 Halloween-inspired songs. I’ll bet that you can name at least two or three of them, and it should be no surprise which song (and corresponding music video) lands at the top of our list.
On another note, the Halloween Special marks The Stueytunes Show’s 25th episode! Thank you for listening, and Happy Halloween, everyone!
